After dropping it's last three
league games by a total of three goals the Arsenal U9 Boys got back
to it's winning ways at the Marietta Soccer Classic. In game one
the boys faced Parkersburg and controlled most of the game carrying
a 3-0 lead late into the second half only to surrender two PK's for
the final margin of 3-2. Zane Paisley got the scoring started when
he assisted Brady Wildroudt eight minutes into the game. Paisley
then added his own goal off a Parker Dinan assist minutes before
half. Paisley added his second goal of the game off a Jack Goggin
assist completing the scoring.
After a long wait that included
an Arsenal S.C. tailgate party the boys faced off against a young
Coshocton Strikers team. The long break served them well as they
came out on fire running up an 8-0 lead at the half. Kesten Taylor
got things started with a hat trick and a 3-0 lead with assists from
Jack Thorne and Parker Dinan. Brady Wildroudt added two goals with
assists coming from Zane Paisley and Jack Goggin. Paisley then
added two of his own goals and Goggin recorded his own goal off a
Parker Dinan assist. Dalton Anker got out of the goal for the
second half and burst into flames as he recorded four unassisted
goals from the left wing. Jack Thorne added the final goal off a
Tyler McClelland assist and a 13-1 victory.
In the semi-finals against
Charleston the boys struggled against the physical play only finding
the net once in a 3-1 loss. Zane Paisley collected a goal kick
moved left and found the corner of the net for the only goal. Mason
Dunn and Parker Dinan played exceptional defense while Tyler
McClelland and Dalton Anker each recorded 6 saves. Dylan Repuyan
used his speed and ball control skills to continually attack
the Charleston Defense who eventually won the tournament title over
COSA in the finals.
The boys will play it's final
league games May 17 & 18 and will complete it's season at the MOSSL
Tournament May 22 & 23.

The team tied OYAA 2-2 on Sunday, April 25th. The teams were tied 0-0 at the half. Kylee Ritchie gave the team their first goal after her opponent was called for a foul and Ritchie went down. She took the kick and it made the perfect arch into the goal. Chloe Amich had the 2nd goal off of Karissa Weekley’s assist. The team lead 2-1, but with less than 10 seconds to go in the second half, the ball got passed the defensive line and tied the game 2-2. Destiny Johnson, Kara Glaze, Allie Murphy, Landyn Dolen, Lily Lewis, Ashton Kemble and Karsyn Shatto came to play today, hats off to the entire team for a game well played. Well wishes are sent to Chloe Williams with a knee injury. ______________________________________________________________ Posted: 04/24/2010 Tonight’s game against NCA Blast was simply a disappointing 7-0 loss. My goal now is just to hold things together enough so that we hopefully won’t have to drop back down a division next season. We have a lot of adjustments to make and skills to enhance. Along with that I hope that our 4 injured players can regain their health to reach their full potential and thanks for playing through the pain. Congrats to NCA Blast on a well played game. ______________________________________________________________ Posted: 04/21/2010

The Zanesville
Arsenal Girls U-11 team bumped up to the Classic Division for the Spring
2010 season and played their first game at home against OYAA on Sunday,
April 3. The Arsenal team lost 2-1 with their lone goal scored by Lily
Lewis assisted by Destiny Johnson. Goalies Karissa Weekley, Kylee
Ritchie and Karsyn Shatto saved 11, 2, & 7 goals respectively. The team
was hoping to “work out the bugs” as they transitioned from the B
Division to Classic at a pre-season tournament, but mother nature had
other plans. Coach Ritchie & Weekley’s words of advice to the team about
how much the speed of play was going to increase at the Classic level
didn’t sink in to any of them until late in the first half. The team
played better in the second half and have hopefully begun their learning
curve for the season! Good luck to the team as they travel to Spindler
Park for their preliminary game to the State Cup this Thursday, April 8,
2010.
